Description

PURPOSE



The purpose of this Sources Sought is to conduct market research to determine if responsible sources exist, to assist in determining if this effort can be competitive and/or a total Small Business Set-Aside. The proposed North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) Code is 325920 Explosive Manufacturing with a corresponding size standard of 750 employees. The Government will use this information to determine the best acquisition strategy for this procurement. The Government is interested in all small businesses to include 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Hubzone, and Women-Owned small business concerns. The Government requests that interested parties respond to this notice if applicable and identify your small business status to the identified NAICS code. Additionally, please provide any anticipated teaming arrangements, along with a description of similar services offered to the Government and to commercial customers for the past three years. Any responses involving teaming agreements should delineate between the work that will be accomplished by the prime and the work accomplished by the teaming partners.



DESCRIPTION



The following constitutes a Sources Sought Synopsis. The Government is performing market research to identify potential contractors who have the skills, experience, and knowledge required to successfully produce the BBU-48 Impulse Cartridge, NSN:1377-01-640-7205, P/N: 8241124-50, DODIC: SS27 for an anticipated procurement.



Information received will be considered for the purpose of determining industry interest in the upcoming procurement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this sources sought. Any information submitted by respondents to this notice is strictly voluntary. REQUIRED SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS



The BBU-48A/B is a dual squib impulse cartridge used to eject chaff from various airframes. It is comprised of a cylindrical aluminum case containing a firing electrode, a diode, bridge-wire, and propellant to generate gas pressure to eject a chaff payload out of a cartridge into the aircraft slipstream. It is electrically fired from aircraft power and has a defined shelf life of 15 years and service life of 2 years.
